Proposed Constitutional Amendments

Earlier this year, the MLA Executive Council forwarded three proposals for constitutional amendments to the Committee on Amendments to the Constitution. The council proposed amendments to allow the implementation of the new forum structure that will replace the current division and discussion group convention structure; to eliminate references to printed matter, including a printed directory, from the constitution; and to eliminate a limiting gender reference to “men and women of letters.” The next step in the amendment process is consideration by the Delegate Assembly at its meeting during the January 2015 convention in Vancouver. Additional information about the proposed amendments, including the texts of the amendments, is available at the Web site.
